The NBN Academy offers a variety of training that was developed by the NBN Steering Committee. The committee is made up of residents and city staff who focus on peer-to-peer, interactive training that supports NBN core concepts Goal: To develop a multi-level educational program that will enhance the capacity of Norfolk's citizens to be engaged, responsible neighbors and community leaders. Objectives: Design and implement foundational or capacity building classes that assist formal and informal community groups in effectively identifying, organizing and accomplishing their goals. Design classes for individuals and/or community groups for the purpose of empowering them to be responsible neighbors and community members. Explore best practices in developing curriculum for neighborhood leaders who are ready to expand their focus from their neighborhood to create change throughout the city.
